About

Lumiere Media, Inc. has evolved from an award-winning independent production company into a diversified group spanning film, television, archival media, digital publishing, technology, and talent management.

Founded by French-born filmmaker and technologist Frederic Lumiere, the company was established in 2001 with a singular vision: to illuminate the world with powerful stories that celebrate the triumph of the human spirit.

Frederic also played a pivotal role in the birth of digital cinema itself. As the creator of Lumiere HD, the first plugin enabling editors to work with HDV footage natively, he caught the attention of Jim Jannard, the billionaire founder of Oakley. Together they devised the original camera specs and business plan for what would become RED Digital Cinema. Frederic assembled the first global leadership team to build the camera, and that effort produced the RED ONE, the camera that transformed Hollywood and accelerated the entire industry's transition from film to digital.

Since its formation, Lumiere Media has developed and created compelling, immersive programming for television networks around the world, including Cinemax, National Geographic Channel, Military Channel, History Channel, and TF1. Founder Frederic Lumiere has also collaborated on projects for History Channel and A&E Bio. Specializing in archive-driven storytelling, Lumiere Media produced an innovative nine-screen, 360-degree immersive film installation at the Arromanches Museum in Normandy, France.

Today, the group extends well beyond film production. Lumiere Media operates HD Archives, a broadcast-quality archival footage licensing service; MatchCentral, a digital publishing platform for in-depth football analysis; and manages talent across media and entertainment. The group also develops technology platforms through its portfolio of software brands.

Based just outside Philadelphia, PA, Lumiere Media continues to push the envelope: finding unique topics, pioneering new storytelling techniques, and building platforms that enlighten and entertain audiences everywhere.
